A Kobold is a creature popular in the tabletop game “Dungeons and Dragons”. They are reptilian humanoids whose ancestry are dragons. However, the kobolds in this show are cute little creatures with tiny horns and a gibberish language. A lot of what they say is contextualised through mime and context clues, the odd word or two being spoken in English.

The story is about a set of Kobold friends going on an adventure to get to the top of the tower, after an adventurer passing by proclaiming little kobolds could never successfully get to the top and find the treasure that lies within. The show unravels into a tale of friendship, teamwork, and self-acceptance.

This show works well for its intended audience. However, adults might not be the biggest fans here. I had to tell myself to watch it with the eyes of a seven-year-old, and if seven-year-old Tony was watching this, he would be witnessing the greatest piece of comedy he would have ever seen. It’s silly, it’s cheeky, it’s perfect for hyperactive kids. The lessons at the end of friendship are, of course, so sweet, and that lovely message makes the show worth seeing.

It’s intended to head to schools for performances after Fringe, which is perfect, but if you want something fun for your little ones while you’re here, then this is the show for them.
