Are you a student and thinking about/going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival?
Well, that is just fantastic! The festival is a wonderful opportunity to see great shows, hang out with friends, and have some nice food and drinks at Edinburgh businesses and pop-ups! However, with Edinburgh being a capital city, I know that some of you might be concerned about the budget. The great news is that, in Edinburgh, there are loads of deals available if you have a student card!
For those of you travelling from abroad who may not have even heard of a student card, don’t worry! No matter what country you are travelling from, if you’re a student, you more than likely have some form of Student ID. Here is a quick example of what one looks like!
This handy piece of plastic will be your ticket to saving money everywhere you go!
You can use this to save money on:
Fringe tickets
Eating out
Travel
Tourist attractions
Shopping
And even hotel stays!!!
That last one is only possible through downloading free apps like Student Beans or Unidays, but, yes, you can sign up for these apps even as a student outside of the UK!
A good rule of thumb is that if you see that a concession ticket is being offered, it is safe to assume that means student discount! It can be a little tricky to find student deals online as it is often not very well advertised! Certain restaurants have student deals that should continue to run during the festival, one example being Bread Meats Bread who offer 50% off their menu to anyone with a valid student ID on Mondays.
I’m busy collecting a list of establishments that will offer discounts to students and will be posting them soon! Also downloading other apps such as Too Good To Go and First Table will save yourself money on eating out too, regardless of having a student card or not!
So, before you decide you can’t afford to go to the festival because you’re a student, look into what you can save on your student card and please follow my Instagram page to learn more about all my other cost saving hints and tips!
As always, I’d love to hear from you, so, if you have any questions, send me a message. I hope you have a fantastic fringe!
Love,
