It’s no surprise to say that I’m a fan of the “Texas Annie: Legend of the Moan Ranger” cast recording. I’ve been hyping the show up for months and have been so excited to see it live! There was always a risk that the live experience would change everything. Last year, the show I was the most excited for ended up being the second worst thing I saw at Fringe. Still, I had hope that Texas Annie would pull through as I am quite the optimist.

And I was also completely right.

“Texas Annie: Legend of the Moan Ranger” is phenomenal! Fringe needs shows like this to keep the festival alive and kicking. It was raunchy, provocative, and charming all at once. The audience was as electric as the cast, and there was a collective feeling of joy in the theatre! The show is a comedic exploration of a very real incident where the State of Texas banned the ownership of six or more sex toys with the threat of some serious jail time as punishment. Of course, the story is embellished with completely fictionalised characters and sentient possessed fleshlights, but it really hits hard on the message of sexual positivity and a person’s rights to practice those freedoms. Can I just say as well, though, that the songs are freaking awesome?

I have to single out Jamie Swisshelm and Lyd Noll for their powerhouse performances! This could be the next cult hit, so if any producers are having a goosey gander at my review, you better move fast to see the show as it only plays until the 15th! I just can’t stress enough how much fun this show is, so get yourself and your friends a ticket and find out for yourselves!
